The BC Employer Training Grant (ETG) is a WorkBC program that reimburses BC employers for workforce training costs. Trades contractors can receive funding for apprenticeship training, upskilling, Red Seal certification prep, and other professional development. Grants typically cover 50–80% of eligible training costs, with up to $10,000 per employee. It’s one of the most accessible grants available for BC electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fabrication companies — and one of the most underutilized. GrantStack handles the entire ETG application on your behalf, and you only pay our success fee if funding is approved.

GrantStack charges a success fee only — there are no upfront costs, retainers, or monthly fees of any kind. Our standard fee for small and medium businesses is 12% of the grant amount awarded. You pay nothing if we don’t win. For larger enterprises the fee is 10%, for Indigenous organizations and non-profits it’s 5%, and for major infrastructure projects over $5M it’s 3%. If a $50,000 ETG grant is approved, our fee is $6,000 — and you net $44,000 you wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Many BC industries qualify for government grants, but trades and skilled-labour businesses are among the most underserved — and most eligible. Electrical contractors, plumbing companies, HVAC and mechanical contractors, fabrication shops, auto body and collision repair, forestry contractors, and construction companies all commonly qualify for provincial programs like the BC Employer Training Grant, CleanBC grants, and federal programs like NRC IRAP and PacifiCan. If you employ tradespeople in BC, there is almost certainly money available that you’re not accessing.

It depends on the program. The BC Employer Training Grant can be applied for and approved within 2–4 weeks for straightforward applications. Federal programs like NRC IRAP or PacifiCan typically take 4–12 weeks from submission to decision.
